About Amelia Trust Farm
Amelia Trust Farm is a charity that supports disadvantaged and vulnerable young people across South Wales. As well as running an alternative education programme called the GROW programme, the Farm is home to a variety of animals, and a hub for volunteers of all ages. The GROW Programme The GROW programme is an alternative education provision for 11 – 16 year olds who struggle in mainstream education. Some of our young people have autism and ADHD, others may have suffered abuse or neglect. Our young people have often come through the care system. By providing a personalised programme of activities, tailored to the needs of each individual, we aim to help our young people learn the skills they need to return to mainstream education, start training or get a job. For many of our young people, the Farm is a lifeline. Our Animals Our animals play an important part at the Farm. As well as being incredibly popular with our visitors and volunteers, taking care of the animals is a form a therapy for our young people, helping them to learn new skills and be responsible. We have all sorts of animals at the Farm, from ferrets and rabbits, to donkeys, alpacas, and pigs! Our Volunteers The Farm is a calm space for those who are lonely or bereaved to come and volunteer, make new friends, and help to maintain the Farm. We have a fabulous team of volunteers who enable the Farm to remain open for everyone to enjoy. A Countryside Classroom With plenty of open space, a woodland, pond, and play area, the Farm is open to the public to enjoy the benefits of being in the great outdoors.
