What is Wishy?
The idea for Wishy came about when Liam and Daniel were looking to donate to charity at Christmas. They discussed how they wanted to know how their donation could help someone, it felt impersonal to just donate money and they were interested in making it a gift especially for the time of year. Through these discussions they came up with the idea for Wishy.
Wishy.org.uk allows people to grant wishes for charities. Think of these as ‘micro-grants’. You can list ‘wishes’ for one-off needs or things you need regularly. For example, an animal shelter might have a one-off wish for money for a veterinary bill to be paid, or an ongoing wish for pet food. The public can grant these wishes by donating money on Wishy. Wishes are small enough that one donor fulfils the entire wish rather than adding to a larger pot.
Wishy is…
Direct - 100% of the money goes to a good cause.
Focused - Your donation satisfies a specific need.
Complete - You grant an entire wish rather than just a small percentage of a larger fundraising effort.
Satisfying - Knowing that you have made the world better in a measurable way is intensely rewarding.
Is Wishy a charity?
No - Wishy is a trading name of Digital For Good Ltd (registered company 13218132).
We created Wishy with the sole aim of helping charitable causes and investigated setting up as a charity or CIC but found that it would add a lot of time, management and expense.
We made a commitment at the very start that we are here to support the third sector not to take anything away. Therefore we do not plan to take grants that are aimed at charities. Instead we want Wishy to be self-sustaining.
Where does the money go?
100% of money raised goes to the charity. It is also the law that the cause must use the money raised for the purpose that they stated in their wish. So you know exactly where your money is going and how it will be used.

Can I change the charity I’m donating to?
You can buy wishes for any good cause on Wishy. When you purchase a wish the money will be sent directly to their bank accounts.
You cannot send money to causes not on the platform.
Can I add money that was raised offline?
You can collect the money yourself then purchase the wishes from your own account or get people to buy wishes on your ‘Wishlist’.
Can I fundraise for a personal cause or to help an individual?
Not at the moment.
Only registered charities and CICs (Community Interest Companies) can use Wishy to raise money. We vet each one and ensure they are a registered and regulated charity.
Can I donate to more than one charity?
Yes. When you buy wishes from different causes we ensure each one gets the money you donated.
What is a Wishlist
A wishlist is a collection of wishes that you would like granted in your name.
This is a great alternative to getting gifts on your birthday or Christmas and instead helping charities that you love.
To create a wishlist, ensure you are signed in and go to ‘My Wishlist’.
To add wishes to a wishlist just click the star icon on anywish.
How can I invite people to my Wishlist page?

Can I post updates to my Wishlist page?
Yes, if you are logged in go to ‘Your Wishlist’ and at the bottom of the page you will find a text box to enter an update.
What does Wishy charge?
We do not charge charities anything, nor do we charge them a percentage of what is raised. Our promise is to ensure 100% of money raised goes to the charity so they can do their best work.
Instead we ask donors to pay 20p + 4% on top of the money they are donating which covers the cost of payment processing and running the website.
This would mean if someone donated £10, they would incur a fee of 60p and pay £10.60. £10 would go to the charity and 60p would go to Wishy and to cover our costs which includes the cost of taking the payment, hosting and running costs.
