Im running to help support Hive Huddersfield CIC

When our young people arrive with us at YMCA Derbyshire, they often have little to no belongings. Being able to provide them with hygiene products for their first few weeks living with us is essential.

This pack will include; shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothbrush and paste, deoderant and period products for women.

People with leprosy often lose feeling in their feet, leaving them more likely to sustain injury. This special footwear helps prevent cuts and ulcers, meaning the person can walk more comfortably and be more mobile. This can mean the difference between being able to work and not, so has a huge impact on their livelihood. 

The people we support love to take part in art activities of all sorts and we regularly go through lots of supplies. It would be great if you could support us in purchasing some extra equipment; things like paint, pens, pencils, easels, canvses, clay, tools etc. 

Our music studio has been running since 2008, offering young people the opportunity to express themselves and learn how to write and record music. Our trained sound technitians work with young people twice weekly to explore issues that are important to them and put it into something positive and expressive.

We offer face-to-face and online cooking, yoga, dance, music, drama and sporting sessions.

We have been really busy at our new skate school project called The Boarding School, and it's great to be welcoming young people back into the youth centre. We would really like to add to the equipment we have on offer and this donation would enable us to purchase a new Grind Rail! What is it? It's similar to a handrail but much lower to the ground and specifically designed to be skate-able. Made of heavy duty box steel, the rail will be custom made to fit in the skate school and provide endless hours of fun and help young people learn new tricks.

The rail will be dedicated in your name if you wish, or with a personalised message of your choosing.

During the present Covid crisis we have extended our objectives to include services for those who have lost during the coronavirus pandemic.  

When the Covid – 19 crisis began to emerge we grew very concerned that families who lost during this time would have not had the “non World” bereavement experience and reflected on how this would be affecting those concerned and their mental health. To lose a loved one and not be able to visit them in their last moments, see them after they had died and at times not been able to attend their funerals leaves a huge gap and perhaps lack of acceptance and form of reality and this would have effects on a person’s emotional well-being. With that in mind we began the process to adapt to the current crisis and try to help.
