About Jacari
Jacari is an award-winning charity providing free, 1:1 tutoring and enriching extra-curricular activities for disadvantaged migrant, asylum-seeking, and refugee children aged 6-16 who have English as an Additional Language (EAL) and are struggling at school. We operate in Bristol and Oxford and support over 200 children. We recruit and train volunteer tutors, most of whom are students at local Universities, who spend one hour a week providing fun, informal tuition to a child, helping to build their confidence and language skills. We also organise termly events and trips to local attractions so that children, their families and volunteers can do a fun activity together and practise their English in a relaxed environment.
