Teach a child to read WISHES FOR

Teach a child to read, write and do basic maths in 30 days.

More than 50% of India's fifth graders cannot read a second-grade text. Pratham has developed a methodology that can teach a child to read, write and do basic maths in 30 days. It is known as teaching at the right level as it groups children that are beginners, or can recognise letters, say words, read sentences or paragraphs together with children of their own level of intensive support. The World Bank has recognised its importance for helping children rebuild their core learning skills after the pandemic which saw India's primary schools closed for up to two years.

Changes Bristol is a charity that helps people in mental health distress. One of our specialist services for vulnerable people in Bristol who need one-to-one support is our telephone befrinding service. A donation of £10 will cover the cost for a person to have a weekly call from a trained volunteer befriender for a month.

Telephone befriending offers support to people who are vulnerable, isolated or need one-to-one support. We aim to match our volunteers and members with people who have similar lived experience or they may have something in common with. Calls last for one hour per week and are available to anyone over 18, without need of diagnosis or GP referral.
